If you don't have much time but want to optimize your cycling days in Sicily. If you want to visit different areas of eastern Sicily (the most interesting one from a cyclist's point of view). If you want to ride having different sicilian landscapes. If you want to mix all this with visits of the most beautiful cultural sites. The 3 days Sicilian Escape is for you!
HOW IT WORKS
- We pick you up on Thursday evening at the Catania Fontanarossa Airport and drop you at any Hotel of your choice in Catania.
- Our 100% Sicilian Guide shows up in the morning with our 9 Seats Van with all the tools you need to unpack your bike or will bring you the bikes you rented.
- On the van you will reach the most beautiful Sicilian Cycling Locations (except for the day when you will climb Etna because you will start the ride from the hotel).
- You do the guided ride and return to the Hotel on the Van.
- On Sunday you do the ride, have shower, we help you in bike packing and drop you at the Cantania Fontarossa Airport.
WHERE WE RIDE
Taormina and the Godfather
Peloritani Mountains hide some of the most beautiful roads and villages of Sicily. We will ride to the top of our secret road of Monte Kalfa, we stop and have lunch with authentic sicilian food prepared only with local products. We ride through some of the scenic locations of the Godfather Movie. Did you know that many parts of the movie were filmed close to Taormina? Do you know this small town. In Sicily Taormina is one of the most popular destinations between VIPs. It really deserves a visit!
Etna and the Giro d'Italia
17 times has this magical race been visiting Sicily. The first time in 1930. The Giro d'Italia has raced on Etna 5 different time starting from 1967. With its 6 different climbs to the top Etna is a cycling paradise. Every year all the big names in PRO cycling come here to train and sleep at the 2000mt altitude of Rifugio Sapienza. In 2020 and 2021 Etna is confirmed as the first long climb of the first week of the Giro.
Being the highest active volcano in Europe Etna is ready to offer you some spectacular (but never dangerous!) view of its power! So get ready to view some lava flow or to hear the “voice” of mother nature.
It is not enough for you? Well on the way down from the top you can decide if you want to stop in some famous local winery producing Nero d’Avola or Etna Rosso.
Noto and its famous Baroc Style
After we rode north and up on Etna is time to go south towards Noto. Noto is a Unesco World Heritage Site. The Baroc style and all the area around the Cavagrande River and Canyon is a pleasure for your eyes and mind! The canyon is 10km long and 300 meters deep and the natural reserve with its small lakes is visited every year by thousands of locals and tourists. During the ride you will see the ruins of Noto Antica and Avola Antica, you will stop in the magical city center of Noto, taste the most amazing “Granita” in the world and finally have a fantastic swim in one of the most beautiful beaches in Sicily.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND HOW TO BOOK
Price starts from €299 per person. After you select dates and different options you will receive an email with all the details. You will have to pay the €100 deposit per person and pay the account 4 weeks before the arrival.
This experience is intended for a group of 2 to 6 cyclists.
